We founded our tutoring group with the belief that tutoring should not become an academic crutch. Instead, it should give students the support, skills, and understanding they need to become confident, curious, and increasingly independent learners.
Our tutors create an enriching and supportive environment where students can strengthen their academic skills, develop deep conceptual understanding, and build the confidence to tackle new challenges on their own.
We currently offer academic tutoring in Math and Reading & Writing, as well as test preparation for the SAT and ACT.

Co-Founder, Knowledge Tree Tutors
Ed is an educator, former attorney, and lifelong learner who co-founded Knowledge Tree Tutors around a simple idea: great tutoring should help students become less dependent on tutoring over time.
Before becoming an educator, Ed graduated from Columbia Law School and practiced law at Kirkland & Ellis. He eventually left legal practice to pursue what had increasingly become the more meaningful part of his professional life—teaching. Today, he is a New York City high school math teacher, a Math for America Fellow, and an experienced private tutor who has worked with students across mathematics, standardized testing, and the LSAT.
Knowledge Tree grew out of Ed's experiences both in the classroom and working one-on-one with students. He saw how powerful individualized instruction could be when a tutor took the time to understand not simply what a student was getting wrong, but why. He also saw a need for tutoring that combined deep subject knowledge with mentorship, careful diagnosis, and genuine attention to the individual student.
As co-founder, Ed helps shape Knowledge Tree's academic philosophy, selects and supports tutors, develops instructional resources, and works directly with students and families.
He remains deeply interested in learning himself and continues to study mathematics, logic, statistics, education, and the science of learning. That curiosity informs the culture he hopes to build at Knowledge Tree: one where intellectual growth is valued not simply as a means to a grade or test score, but as something worth pursuing in its own right.
